I fear I may have jinxed ourselves. Ever since I commented that we were experiencing a wonderful winter without the snow or biting cold the rest of the country was dealing with, we've had a succession of nasty fronts move through.
It started with a snowfall and had it not been such a gloomy day, would have been picturesque. I was surprised to see it at all as Pete, last year's caretaker, had only encountered the lightest of dustings.
The amount that fell cannot compare with what we dealt with 2 years ago while caretaking at another lodge. These pictures were all taken in Rivers Inlet which is roughly 100 miles south.
The following 2 days of rain quickly dispensed of the heavy snow which was more of a slush now. Saved me from having to shovel the steps and boardwalk. In it's wake clear skies once again appeared but bringing with it more than just a nip in the air. A heavy frost covered the docks, the beach and turned the normally soft ground hard.
Till next week,
Heather & Mike
